Women in Nature - Autumn walk, Yerrabi Pond

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Join Landcare ACT for nature connection walks in Autumn as part of Women in Nature - a program supporting women from all walks of life to come together and connect with nature for health and wellbeing. Landcare ACT's Women in Nature program is supported by a community grant from ACTEWAGL.

Personal and planetary health are deeply intertwined, but increasing urbanisation and time spent on devices can leave us feeling estranged from the natural world. For these reasons, it's important to carve out time to intentionally restore our connection with nature. Nature connection pertains to our emotional and psychological relationship with nature. Cultivating nature connection has been shown to support mental and physical health, whilst fostering a deeper sense of meaning, purpose and fulfilment contributing to overall quality of life.

Located in the heart of Gungahlin, Yerrabi pond is a popular recreation spot for Canberra's northern residents. It's also home to a wide array of birdlife including grebes, moor hens, swans, ducks and even pelicans. Enjoy a gentle, meandering 4.2km loop around the pond, taking in the changing viewpoints and activating your senses along the way with a variety of nature connection activities. We'll journey past floating wetlands and explore how our everyday choices can support our local ecosystems.

Please wear enclosed walking shoes, sun protection and bring a drink bottle to keep hydrated.
Note, this walk is graded easy, on sealed paths throughout (the longest wheelchair-friendly trail in Canberra!)

Wayfinding
Meet next to the toilet and BBQ area just off the Wunderlich Street car park - look for the white and green Landcare A-frame sign.
