Event description

Social Enterprise Auckland is proud to host “Women in Tech” which will provide the perfect opportunity to meet, connect, and be inspired by others who are equally passionate about increasing diversity in tech!

Our speakers include:

Elle Bell (Spacetoco):
A space-sharing platform for the short-term hire of space. SpacetoCo connects hosts who have spaces to people looking for space for a birthday party, board meeting or outdoor activity. The platform caters for a range of types of spaces, but the key to the popularity and early adoption is the automation for hosts.

Michal Garvey (Foodprint):
Food is made to be eaten, yet globally we throw away one-third of the food that’s produced.  As this food decomposes, it contributes to the climate crisis through its methane emissions.  In the hospitality sector over 60% of what’s tossed is still perfectly good, edible food.  Having worked in hospitality and food tech overseas, Michal returned to Aotearoa to start Foodprint in 2018.  The app allows you to buy high quality food at a discount from top eateries, saving it from being thrown out.

Leeanna Kohn-Hardy (Finnapster):
See the socially responsible performance to your investments. Socially responsible investing (SRI) has grown expotentially in demand. Now there are a myraid of SRI funds, SRI ETF's and even an SRI index or three. And because you're used to seeing how your investments are performing, it makes sense that you also want to know where they are at with their sustainability metrics. Finnapster makes it easy for you.

Learn from women who have launched platforms or apps that try to solve world problems. They will discuss topics such as

  • ideation to reality – challenges and opportunities,
  • research
  • funding
  • development
  • launch and build.
