Event description

Five Years. One Night. A New Movement.

Join us for an intimate, communal evening of reflection, celebration and connection as Women of Colour Australia (WoCA) marks its fifth anniversary and officially launches WoCImpact1000 — a bold new philanthropic movement grounded in collective care and generosity.

Held in the beautiful Atrium of the Immigration Museum — this special gathering will bring together our community, alumni, collaborators, and early champions for a night of shared stories, soulful food, and movement-building.

This isn’t just a celebration — it’s a moment of solidarity. Together, we’ll honour how far we’ve come and boldly step into the future we’re creating.

What to expect:

  • A nourishing shared meal by Palestinian Chef Aheda

  • One long shared table — to gather, reflect, and honour our journeys

  • Reflections from WoCA alumni and community leaders

  • The official launch of WoCImpact1000: 1,000 Women. $1 Million. One Movement.

We’re creating an evening that feels warm, connected, and celebratory — a gathering of hearts as much as minds.

About WoCImpact1000

WoCImpact1000 is a ten-year movement to mobilise 1,000 Women of Colour to each give $1,000 annually — raising $1 million every year to power leadership programs, scholarships, and advocacy. This is philanthropy by Women of Colour, for Women of Colour — and this launch marks the first step in a collective future.

Acknowledgment of Country

We acknowledge the Wallumattagal clan of the Darug nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land upon which Women of Colour Australia is situated. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women with whom we stand in solidarity. We acknowledge that as settlers on this stolen Aboriginal land, we are beneficiaries of the dispossession, genocide, and ongoing colonial violence against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We believe that it is our collective responsibility and moral imperative to help dismantle the systemic barriers and structural inequities oppressing the original inhabitants of this land. We are also painfully aware that this land was taken forcibly, without a Treaty or reparations made. We have taken a practical step towards honouring sovereignty by paying the rent – and we invite you to do so too. This land is and always will be Aboriginal land. Sovereignty was never ceded.
