No welding or metal working experience required! This 2-day course (which occurs across 2 Sundays -Sunday 18 and Sunday 25 August 2024) is ideal for artists, hobbyists, gardeners or anyone wanting to get a feel for what’s involved in making something from mild steel. In this course, you will be introduced to:

· Metal working and welding safety
· Planning a job and getting materials
· Preparing mild steel for a project - cutting, bending, rolling, drilling and grinding
· MIG welding techniques, including tacking a piece together and running a weld bead
· Steel clean up and finishing

Some familiarity with tools and workshops/sheds is useful, but not essential.

You will apply your learning as you construct either a fire pit or pot plant holder .

What to bring: Yourself. All tools, materials and safety equipment are included in the registration. Morning Tea (tea, coffee and biscuits) is provided. BYO lunch.

What to wear: long pants, a long-sleeved shirt (no synthetic materials, please!) and sturdy closed-in boots or shoes.

We provide welding helmets, safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection.

At WOTT we keep our classes small to optimise your learning experience. Any cancellations or transfers, therefore, have an effect on our ability to deliver these classes (and may even result in the cancellation of the course). Please consider your dates carefully prior to booking.

Our cancellation and refund/transfer policy is as follows:

- cancellation up to 7 days prior to the course: full refund or transfer to a new course date.
- cancellation up to 3 days prior to the course: 50% refund/no transfer. You will then be required to rebook into the preferred course.
- cancellation less than 24h prior to the course: no refund or transfer available.
