Create your own shellwork slipper or boomerang with Aunty Lola Ryan
In this drop-in workshop you'll learn about the shellwork tradition of our local La Perouse Aboriginal community. You'll have the chance to create a slipper or boomerang adorned with shells, an arts practice upheld for generations.
This is an all ages, hands-on drop-in workshop.
Registrations are recommended and children must be supervised by an accompanying adult.
About the Artist
Aunty Maxine Ryan is an Aboriginal woman from the La Perouse Aboriginal Community. She has passed on her passion of Aboriginal arts and crafts to her grandchildren, especially shell-art which she learned from her mother, a craft that has been passed down through generations in her family.

Randwick Town Hall is located on the ground floor at 90 Avoca Street, Randwick.
The main entrance is via double doors located on Frances Street. From this entrance there are 8 steps with handrails to reach the hall. There is a wheelchair accessible entry via the carpark on Avoca Street. There is an accessible car park located on Frances Street.
This workshop is presented by Randwick City Council and proudly funded by Women NSW as part of NSW Government.
