Event description

Embodied Dance Journey through the 5 Elements - 5 week Women's Circle with Sara-Jane Cleland Dancing Freedom Facilitator

Tuesday nights for 5 consecutive weeks

21st Feb - 21st March

6.30pm to 8.30pm

We will journey together through the 5 elements - EARTH, WATER, FIRE, AIR and ETHER. Each week we will focus on one element, to deepen your connection and explore your relationship to that element and the corresponding energy center in your body. We will start with a meditation, then a women's sharing circle, a dancing freedom embodiment journey and finish with a closing circle.

This is an opportunity to experience the magic of a women's circle woven with the embodiment practice of Dancing Freedom. To come together in community, to co-create a healing space and support each other as Women. To connect deeply to your authentic self and emerge as your whole loving being.

*Women Only Workshop*

*No dance experience necessary*

*Please bring water to drink & a mug for herbal tea*

*Wear warm or cool clothes (layers) that you can move in*

*Bring a blanket for the floor*

*****What is Dancing Freedom?*****

Dancing freedom is a free form dance practice, a moving meditation with the intention of aligning life with love and awareness. A dance practice that blends the medicine of dance with the medicine of ceremony and co-creation. Dancing freedom takes you on a guided dance journey through an elemental wave of Earth, Water, Fire, Air & Ether - deepening your connection to the elements, life and living.

In the dance you are invited to explore an authentic way of moving - a creative expression of your unique being. There is only one rule in Dancing Freedom - you can't do it wrong! In the process of dance we can become a free flow of energy, moving into oneness, beyond the mind, personality and ego.

Dancing Freedom provides an opportunity to release physical tension and pain, to unwind energy which may be held in the body, to express emotions and sounds, to play like a child, to connect with yourself and others in the dance, to have FUN and to remember that you LOVE to dance! πŸ’ƒ

.β€œIn many shamanic societies, if you came to a medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions: "When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing? When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you stop being comforted by the sweet territory of silence?” Gabrielle Roth - Founder of 5 Rhythms Dance

*****About Sara-Jane*****

Sara-Jane Cleland is a Dancing Freedom Facilitator, Naturopath, Herbalist, Nutritionist and Massage Therapist who has made her home on Gundungurra land in the Southern Highlands, NSW since 2008. Her journey as a holistic practitioner began over 25 years ago as a Yoga teacher and organically evolved into Bodywork.

As a Massage therapist for the past 20 years she has offered Thai Massage, Remedial Massage, Energy work and Cranio-sacral therapy which releases trauma held in the body through an unwinding process - freeing held memories and emotions. Her love of bodywork lead to training in Kahuna Massage in 2015 - a flowing massage practice which becomes an energetic dance between the receiver and the therapist.

In 2016, she discovered 5 rhythms dance practice on retreat with Gina Chick and became a passionate advocate for conscious dance, bringing teachers to the highlands throughout 2018. At the end of 2018 she journeyed to the Byron Bay hinterland for intensive training in Dancing Freedom. In 2019 she offered monthly Dancing Freedom events and in 2020 fortnightly Dancing Freedom events, offering this powerful dance practice to her local community and beyond via zoom online.

Her passion is connection. Connection to the healing power of nature through food as medicine and herbal medicine. Connection to the innate healing power of the body through Bodywork and Dance. Connection to community by bringing women together through Red Tent Women's circles and Nurture & Nourish Women's retreats. Connection through Conscious Dance - dancing in community, co-creating and supporting each other - being seen for your authentic self. And most importantly, providing an opportunity for connection to oneself, your loving whole being, so so worthy of self-love and creative expression.πŸ’—
