Second Women's Iaido and Jodo Seminar 2026
Description
We’d like to acknowledge the valuable support of the NSW Office of Sport, whose funding support under the Organisation Support Program has allowed the Kendo NSW in conjunction with the Australian Kendo Renmei to conduct this year’s Women’s Seminar for Iaido and Jodo at the Newington College Hall on the 6th & 7th June 2026.
The Iaido and Jodo Boards are pleased to announce the continuation of the Women's seminar for both Iaido and Jodo.
This was extremely successful on its inaugural event and we encourage women and girls in our ranks to take advantage of this exciting opportunity.
We will once again have the support of two exceptional female instructors from Japan. Many of you have already experienced the wonderful teaching provided by these sensei:
Sensei Delegation
Takizawa Tomomi Sensei, Kyoshi 7 Dan Iaido
Takizawa Sensei began her Iaido journey in 2000 under the guidance of Ishidō Sensei. Promoted to 7 Dan in 2021, she received the Kyoshi title in 2023. Takizawa Sensei has had significant success in multiple tournaments across Japan.
Kozuka Risa Sensei, Renshi 7 Dan Jodo, Renshi 7 Dan Iaido
Kozuka Sensei began Jodo in 2004 under Murakami Sensei and is one of the most accomplished women in the discipline. In 2007, she received an Excellence Award at the All Japan Jōdō Championships in the 3 Dan category. A few weeks after earning her 7 Dan, she secured 2nd place at the 2024 All Japan Jōdō Championships. Kozuka Sensei has also been an active Iaido practitioner since 2001 and represented Miyagi Prefecture at the 2023 All Japan Iaido Championships.
Seminar for ladies will be run on the 6 and 7th of June Please refer to schedule below:
You will notice that the sensei have also agreed to having open training on Friday night and Monday morning.
The open training is available to all AKR members but the seminar is exclusively for women.
