MEET YOUR SPEAKERS
Daina Walker |Â Creating a Business You LOVE By DesignÂ
Born a country girl, Daina discovered her passion for travel and adventure as a teen, embarking upon an exciting life and global career in tourism that took her to senior sales roles at Flight Centre, Virgin and the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and recognition as a rising star. Now a married mum of two, Daina has created her own business, Diversified Business Skills, helping train and mentor professionals and developing strategies that provide them with a sustainable, competitive edge. A proud Wirangu woman, she is also Founder of not-for-profit, First Nations Women in Tourism, which aims to develop skill sets that increase employment opportunities and foster a more sustainable and inclusive tourism industry.Â
Amanda Blennerhassett | Winner of Australia's Top Marketing Award |Â Triumph of an Underdog
A star-shaped peg in a round hole, from a young age Amanda didn't fit the mould. Embarking upon a successful corporate marketing career in the food industry, she found her ideas to create real solutions to industry problems often fell on deaf ears. Disillusioned and seemingly at a dead end at 27, she took a leap into the unknown, starting her now award-winning, values-led business and marketing consultancy, Brand Savvy, that has helped scores of change makers and disruptors launch innovative ideas into mainstream markets and grow their companies around the world. Destiny eventually led her to a once-in-a-lifetime project, a David and Goliath battle for a group of independent pet retailers up against two ruthless corporate chains, that resulted in miraculous outcomes and ultimately won her the Australian Marketing Institute's Program of the Year Award in 2015.Â
Michelle Prowse | Nothing to Lose, Everything to Gain
Born in Zimbabwe and a country girl at heart, Michelle was living a happy and prosperous life with her young family when dangerous socio-political unrest forced them to pack a few bags and board a plane to Australia. Exhausted, traumatised and disoriented, she had to dig deep and find her way in a new and foreign land, especially as she became a single mum, eventually landing an opportunity as a property valuer. Now with grown up boys, she is embarking upon the next stage of her life - being infectiously, authentically, unapologetically herself and using NLP and hypnotherapy to help women break through their limitations, find their voice and succeed on their own terms.
