I'm Tegan Hunt, an Aboriginal woman, solo mum, and founder of The Hunt 4 Healing. My journey from survival to sovereignty has taught me that our darkest chapters can become our greatest gifts, because the story doesn't end at survival - it begins there.

My Journey

My path to healing hasn't been conventional. At 16, I escaped domestic violence and found myself homeless, safety was a foreign concept in my world. By 22, I was working in maximum security prisons, surrounded by trauma whilst carrying my own unhealed wounds.

The breaking point came in 2018 - a Stage 2 breast cancer diagnosis while 6 months pregnant, my father's death a month later, and navigating an abusive relationship that stripped away what little sense of security I had left. My body was screaming for help. Between cancer treatments, caring for a newborn, and trying to escape from and unravel a trauma bond, I was running on empty.

But 2018 also brought me to my knees in the most transformative way. I realised I was sick of my own excuses, sick of letting trauma control my life, and sick of waiting for someone else to save me. Through multiple surgeries, a mastectomy, and various reconstructions - all whilst navigating solo motherhood and ongoing cancer treatment - something profound clicked. I had survived every storm life had thrown at me, but survival wasn't enough anymore. I wanted to thrive.

The Transformation

I discovered the transformative power of somatic healing and breathwork. For the first time, I found tools that spoke to both my body and soul. I began to understand that my lived experience - every painful moment, every triumph, every lesson learned - was actually my greatest asset. I didn't need fancy degrees to understand trauma, I worked in the industry for 15 years facilitating CBT programs with inmates; I had lived it, survived it, and was learning to thrive despite it.

I made radical changes: slowly started nourishing my body, quit alcohol, gave up coffee, embraced natural supplements, and committed to understanding and healing my nervous system. I started seeing my body not as a battlefield but as an ally in healing. The more I healed, the clearer my purpose became: to create the safe space I had always needed, to be the guide I had always wished for.

My Mission

Today, I stand as living proof that it's possible to transform survival mechanisms into wisdom. My journey isn't just a story of survival - it's a roadmap for others who are ready to move from merely existing to truly living.

Through my work in somatic coaching and breathwork facilitation, I'm creating a community where healing isn't just possible - it's inevitable, if you're willing to get out of your own way.

What makes my approach different is that I'm not speaking from theory - I'm speaking from transformation. I live and quite literally breathe this work. I understand the terror of feeling unsafe in your own body, the exhaustion of constant hypervigilance, and the deep longing for peace. But I also know the profound joy of coming home to yourself, the power of regulating your nervous system, the beautiful breakthroughs that come through breathwork, and the freedom that comes with genuine healing.
