Wonder Walk 4 Dog Leg Farm via Braidwood
Event description
“Wonder Walks” is part of Project Alchemy, a series a cross disciplinary arts projects building community connection across south-east Australia. The project is facilitated Canberra based Rebus Theatre and involves artists from Bega Valley Shire, Eurobodalla Shire, East Gippsland, Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council, and the ACT.
The resilience and regrowth of fire threatened and/or affected areas of our region has inspired this project.
“Wonder Walks” will explore the experiences and challenges of local community members through a series of creative walks in the Braidwood region
This walk will take participants into the landscape at Dog Leg Farm on the outskirts of Braidwood. Our hosts are Angela Hunter and Jake Annetts.
This is an opportunity to engage in gathering wildflowers and plants to make smudge sticks on the day, and will also suit artists who enjoy working plein air. The site is suitable for drawing, painting, photography and writing. Or you may just want to enjoy the majestic views of this landscape, with no pressure of any goal….except to feel restored and inspired.
Facilitated by Cecile Galiazzo, visual artist and curator. Her own practice has been solidly based in the landscapes of Braidwood and the Shoalhaven River region over several decades. Previously she has facilitated field study groups for local artists and ANU students. As a Project Alchemy artist, Cecile was inspired by the Braidwood region’s resilience and recovery since the 2019/2020 bush fires
Project Alchemy is made possible thanks to funding from the Australian Government for the Black Summer Bushfire Grant Program. Rebus is also supported by Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres and the ACT Government.
