Weeds have wide-ranging impacts on our environment, agriculture, and communities. They degrade native bushland, threaten biodiversity, harbour pest animals, and reduce agricultural productivity. Join us for this workshop to learn how to identify and control woody weeds on your property or patch and opportunities for coordinated, landscape-scale action.

This workshop will be held at Leneva Hall where we will be joined by Jo Vincent from Wodonga Urban Landcare Network, our Leneva Castle Creek Landcare Group coordinators, Agriculture Victoria and the North East Catchment Authority.

There are two sessions to the events outlined below.

Plant giveaway for LCC members: 10am-11am

Woody weeds workshop: 11am-2pm

What you'll learn:

How weeds impact biodiversity, agriculture, and waterways
How to identify common and priority weeds in our region
Best practice control methods: manual, mechanical, chemical & biological
Safe and effective herbicide use
Local case studies and success stories

We will then hold a field visit to a local rehabilitation site for those interested in joining.

Additionally, to get you started or to continue you on your revegetation journey, as a part of this workshop we are also giving away free plants to Leneva Castle Creek Landcare Group members! Not a member? No worries! For just $20 you can join the group by following this link.

Apart from free plants and being the first to know about our events, why become a member?

Training, technical advice, and best-practice guidance
Connection to a strong local network of landcarers working at a landscape scale
Support with planning, grant writing, and volunteer recruitment
Access to insurance, shared equipment, and project resources

Please contact rhiannon@wodongalandcare.org.au if you have any questions.

This event is the fourth workshop in our workshop series 'Growing capacity against invasives on small blocks' which is supported by the Victorian Government through the Partnerships Against Pests program. We will be hosting two more events this year on herbaceous weeds and blackberries.
