Ed Woomer and Steve Whitaker were fast friends in high school in Bethlehem PA. Among many other things, they shared an interest in playing guitar and singing together.
Separately, they played and sang songs at coffee houses, taverns, festivals – wherever there were willing ears, throughout their adult lives.
Ed began as a folk singer and guitarist in northeastern Pennsylvania. With the help of supporting musicians, he created Flexible Flyer, a progressive bluegrass band, performing covers and original material to audiences in Philadelphia and throughout the tri-state area. A staple at Musikfest, the band performed at the Wind Gap Bluegrass Festival, Peninsula Bluegrass Festival, Sellersville Theater, and graced the main stage at numerous summer concert series. Flexible Flyer released two albums, Safe Flex and Bluegrass Millionaires. The latter was considered for a Grammy nomination. Ed is a singer and multi-instrumentalist including guitar, banjo and dobro. He currently lives in Media, Pa. with his wife, Karen.
Steve Whitaker has performed at numerous Lehigh Valley locations, including Musikfest, and was the opening act for Livingston Taylor, Steve Forbert, and Tom Chapin at Godfrey Daniels. He has also performed at Philadelphia area concert series locations and has written jingles for radio stations in Philadelphia and New York. Lately, his online original music and storytelling have established a substantial following. Steve lives in Berwyn, PA with his wife, Carol.
In 2020, Ed and Steve joined forces to bring bluegrass, folk, swing, standards, and original material into a genre all their own. With Ed on dobro and vocals and Steve on guitar and vocals, you can expect high-spirited acoustic music with attitude and thought-provoking original songs.
