Event description

Wordcraft celebrates our humanity raw and in process. Here, all the cracks in your voice are welcome.

We welcome people from all walks of life to co-exist and create wordcraft magic. Whether you are a poet, storyteller, rapper, comic, actor or any other voice lead artist, this community is all about holding space for us to explore what our words have to share with us.

Facilitated by national award-winning, highly commissioned poet, Tedx speaker and English teacher, Wren Rapture (Ren Alessandra), You will be guided through a range of writing strategies, seek inspiration from other writers and from your surroundings. You will have time to play with these practices and explore your wordcraft on the page and even on the mic.

These workshops happen twice a month (mostly fortnightly) and the venues range from being Northside, outside and in Warrandyte. (The first three are at The Man Cave Studio in Brunswick, ALL genders welcome)

These workshops will run for 2.5 hours on a Saturday morning/arvo and they are curated to create ample opportunity to sit with your writing and explore strategies, writing games and edgy opportunities to share, play and connect through the power of our written and spoken word.

It's for the writer that needs time carved out to WRITE. For the writer who wants to meet the like-minded. For the writer who wants to expand.

Expect to be welcomed, warm, held and challenged (by choice!) to deepen your relationship with your words and realise that you have answers to the question - what do you really want to say?

Testimonials

'Ren's ability to inspire those around her is truly a gift.' Jesse - Wordcraft Writer

'Wordcraft workshops are a dynamic, playful, supportive way to test out and learn new writing techniques, and the events are offered in a way that uplifts those sharing and inspires those observing. In either setting, you'd have the opportunity to be challenged and inspired alike!' - Jennifer Weber - Wordcraft Writer

'Wordcraft is a really wonderful community of extremely supportive creatives/creative patrons - you will gain an extremely nurturing and welcoming stage for your work - finished & unfinished. It’s a great place for trial and error - especially for someone just starting out!' - Nidhi, Wordcraft Crew

Disclaimer:

In purchasing a ticket, you're open to the space changing with ample communication and understand that Wordcraft does not police anyone's identity. We exist for all of us; no matter your politics, religion, gender, or any other marginalised label. We exist for all of humanity to co-exist and make art together. As we all deserve. We do not condone hate speech, all we ask is that you bring forth love and pass it on. We do not censor content and many shares are of a personal, deep and sometimes sexually explicit nature. All are welcome, be prepared for realness and even more amounts of softness. Mature audiences (16+) If you are a young person who has worked prior with Wren, please reach out to her on Instagram (@wordcraft.wren) to gently touch base before signing up to this workshop.
