Words in Winter Festival Opening
Description
Join us for an evening of story, song and community as we launch Words in Winter 2026.
The evening begins on Djaara Country with a Welcome to Country from Aunty Alison McRae followed by readings and music by local students, songs from The Honeytones Choir and our Hall of Fame induction.
While at the opening, you can explore our Festival Hub. Check out the exhibition of writing and creative responses to this year's theme Curiouser and Curiouser, featuring work from school students across the shire and the U3A writing group.
Or browse the community book swap (sponsored by Hepburn Energy and Paradise Bookshop) and discover treasures for readers of all ages at our adult and kids tables. Bring a book, leave a book. Gold coin donations are warmly welcomed but never expected. Every coin helps us celebrate our 25th anniversary in 2027.
Grab a festival program and plan your journey across five days of events. Bring the family and friends and come celebrate with us.
Free. All welcome.

Walk-Ins welcome if you are happy to stand or sit in the balcony.
