    Event description

Design is continuing to play a role in the delivery of public services and in response to critical global challenges. In this conversation, Prof Andrea Siodmok OBE and Mathan Ratinam take a long view on what design brings to this space, based on their extensive work in the field.

Prof Andrea Siodmok is the Dean of the RMIT School of Design. In 2002 Andrea was the Chief Design Officer in the UK Design Council and part of the team that designed the iconic 'double diamond' diagram to represent divergent and convergent thinking in the design process. Andrea founded the UK's first Policy Lab in 2014. Andrea is actively involved in industry, government and education, with particular interest in the intersections between the sectors.
Mathan Ratinam is the Principal Practitioner at Aboriginal Youth Justice, Department of Justice and Community Safety, in the Victorian Government. This follows a period as Principal Service Designer in the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Victoria and a Lead Design Specialist in the World Bank, Washington. His extensive work in design traces the maturing field of design and its place in the world.
Anna Rasalingam is a completing the Master of Design Futures. She is an Evaluation Lead in the Attorney-General's Department in the Australian Government. Anna is an organisational development specialist and business strategist, with experience across leading corporate and international humanitarian organisations in change management, client and stakeholder management, project management and business development analysis.
