Working Group | Enterprise Bargaining Approaches
Event description
This working group will focus on 'Enterprise Bargaining Approaches'
A Business Council of Australia report published in August 2019 states that we currently have the lowest number of active federally enterprise agreements in 20 years.
Although enterprise agreements are a core part of Australia’s workplace relations system.
Enterprise bargaining can include negotiations on pay and conditions if under the final agreement employees are better off overall than they would be on an award. Enterprise agreements cannot undercut the National Employment Standards, nor can they include wages that are lower than the base rate in the relevant award or the minimum wage
While negotiating an enterprise agreement can be complex for any employer, larger employers are more likely to have the capacity to navigate through the system than smaller employers
Do you have an active federally registered EBA in your workplace?
Are you better prepared for the next negotiation round?
What is the main reason your organisation uses enterprise agreements?
• To respond to demands from your employees.
• To reward employees with higher wages than the applicable award rates.
• To address the flexibility required by the business.
• To reduce complexity from otherwise having to use multiple awards.
In this working group we can discuss what approaches you take in setting objectives, communicating progress, negotiating with unions and your employees, and how quickly and well do this.
Is there an impact on productivity, customer experience, engagement, and morale during this period?
This is an opportunity to evaluate your own process and gain some insights from others that will lead to a better process for all parties.
