Event description

This working group will focus on 'Methods for quick changeover: A case study from Weathertex'

As customers expect more from their suppliers, manufacturing environments must be more agile.

A key issue affecting most manufacturing processes is how quickly and effectively we can switch from one product to another.

The SMED methodology was developed by Shigeo Shingo to assist us, and you can see the principles at work in world-class organizations.

Formula 1 teams and surgery theatres in efficient hospitals are examples.

As we explore this critical topic for any manufacturing company, we will benefit from the experiences of Weathertex and our other attendees.

This working group meeting will provide you with an opportunity to improve your changeover times.

During the event we will,

  • Discuss the SMED methodology and quick changeover
  • Learn how to run a SMED event and take people on the journey.
  • Consider the first steps you can take to improve your own changeovers.
  • Identify the challenges you will face with change and how to overcome them
  • Hear what Weathertex has to say about their own experiences
  • Take a tour of the Weathertex production facility and focus on their changeover practices

Our events are an excellent forum for networking and engaging in 'peer to peer' learning with other members. To get the most out of the event you need to attend the event with a willingness to contribute to group discussions.
