Working with Country - An Introduction to Boonwurrung cultural perspectives on Water, Climate, Circular Economy & Biodiversity
Event description
How can local First Nations knowledge inform decision-making? What can best practice intercultural collaboration look and feel like?
In this time of reflection and healing, it's more important than ever to consciously develop our knowledge and skills for intercultural collaboration and partnerships. Indigenous and Western perspectives on social, environmental and economic issues can be very different, but also complementary if you know how to connect them. Together, by combining old and new ways we can open completely new opportunities for Australian leadership and innovation, while creating benefits for all stakeholders including Country.
Co-hosted by Glen Eira City Council, this introductory session will spotlight a series of partnered projects which have been created by the Boonwurrung Land & Sea Council and Glen Eira City Council, with facilitation support by Regeneration Projects.
These case studies include:

- Community leaders & Special interest groups
Background
'Business for Country' and 'Working with Country' are social innovation models which create a culturally-safe space where local leaders from First Nations, Business, Government, Education and Community backgrounds can come together to listen, learn and share. Starting with a pilot in September 2022, Boonwurrung Land & Sea Council and Regeneration Projects have successfully run a diversity of workshops, short courses, social gatherings and special events. By establishing a foundation of respect and understanding, leaders can then grow long-term partnerships and mutually-beneficial collaborations.
