    Event description

We all know that Stories are powerful way to learn about each others lived experience. However, many people and communities are having their Stories used as commodities without their informed consent. Unethical, unsafe Story Telling can lead to the direct exploitation of an individual or a whole community. This type of Story Telling is common place and often leads to other people being exploited for personal and/or commercial gain. Although these practices are common, they are seldom seen or acknowledged.

Many organisations, including social enterprise practitioners perpetuate this process, often unwittingly.  SECNA, as part of its activities in the lead up to the Social Enterprise World Forum is facilitating an event series for its Members and Partners to explore these issues in a constructive way and to support organisations to make change.

This is the first step of many that SECNA is taking to build culturally safe, respectful and ethical ways of working with our Cultural and Indigenous Entrepreneur members.

    Our Program Partners:

Our Race aims to educate, advocate and implement safe, ethical Story Telling practices. We work with Story Holders and Story Partners to create an ecosystem of change, where the way Stories are designed, constructed and delivered are changed to benefit the communities whose Stories are being told.
