Workshop 1: Understanding LinkedIn and how to create a professional profile
Event description
Want to know more about LinkedIn?
JFA Purple Orange is running free digital skills workshops for people with disability. The workshops are funded through the South Australian Government’s Digital Inclusion grants program.
This online workshop will introduce you to LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a website for work and professional connections. You can use LinkedIn to:
Show your skills and experience
Connect with other people and organisations
Find chances to do advocacy, volunteering, or work
LinkedIn may not be useful for everyone. For example, if you work in a trade or a community job, you may not need LinkedIn. This workshop will help you decide if LinkedIn is right for you.
This is Workshop 1 of our Series 3 ‘Getting started on LinkedIn’ workshops.
What we’ll cover:
What LinkedIn is, and how it is different from Facebook or Instagram
How to stay safe and use privacy settings
How to create your profile, including:
Profile photo
Headline (a short sentence about yourself)
Bio (About section)
Experience (jobs, volunteering, advocacy, or caregiving)
Skills and endorsements
Education and training
How to follow, connect, and post
Examples of people with disability using LinkedIn
