Workshop 1: Understanding vox pops and how to plan your own
Event description
Ever wanted to ask people what they really think — and share it with the world?
JFA Purple Orange is delivering a series of digital skills workshops for people with disability, funded through the South Australian Government’s Digital Inclusion grants program.
This free online workshop is for people with disability who want to learn how to create short, powerful videos known as vox pops — real-life interviews that capture everyday voices and opinions.
Whether you’re curious about how vox pops work or want to start creating your own, this session will guide you through what they are and how to plan one.
This is Workshop 1 of our Series 2 ‘Creating Vox Pops’ workshops.
What we’ll cover:
What a vox pop is, and why it’s a powerful tool for storytelling and advocacy
Inspiring examples of real vox pops — including disability-led content
How to ask strong, open-ended questions that invite honest answers
Tips for choosing a topic, gaining consent, and planning your video
A chance to practise asking and answering questions in small groups
How to start and end your vox pop with impact
This session is great for beginners. No filming or editing experience needed!
Registrations for this workshop close at midnight on Wednesday 12 November, 2025.
The full 'Creating Vox Pops' series includes:
