Workshop & Discussion on Rapid Prototyping of Game Mechanics

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Good game mechanics require designers to iterate frequently on their design and parameters. In this workshop, we will have an open discussion on techniques that facilitate rapid prototyping of game mechanics.

To get the discussion started, we will walk through an interactive demo of a rapid prototyping framework for the Godot game engine, so bring your own laptops with Godot pre-installed (participation not required).

About the Speaker:

Tom Beckmann is a PhD student at the Software Architecture Group at the Hasso Plattner Institute at the University of Potsdam.

In his thesis, he is investigating the use of structured editing for general-purpose programming languages.

Beyond that, he is investigating the use of programming tools for virtual reality, prototyping games, and other domain-specific use cases.
