Workshop: Cameraless Photography
Description
Cameraless Photography Workshop with Dr Kirsten Hudson
Join Wild West Foto Fest for a hands-on morning of cameraless photography with artist and educator Dr Kirsten Hudson.
Forget the camera and explore different ways of making photographic images using light, materials and direct processes. Kirsten will introduce phytograms, cyano-lumen printing and cliché-verre, with plenty of opportunity to experiment and make your own images.
We'll also have a scanning electron microscope (SEM) at Artgold, giving participants the chance to explore another kind of camera-less image making - using electrons rather than visible light to reveal surfaces and details we can't see with the naked eye.
We'll experiment with the relationship between the two: what happens when we image the same kinds of materials through direct photographic processes and at microscopic scale?
No photography or microscopy experience is needed. This workshop is about experimenting, making things and looking at familiar materials in different ways.
