Event description

Paint en plein air (out in nature) at the Hamilton Botanic Gardens!

Hamilton Gallery partners with the Friends of the Hamilton Botanic Gardens for this special summer holiday oil painting workshop hosted by award-winning local artist, Emma Stuart.

Beginners through to experienced artists are welcome to attend this relaxed Saturday afternoon workshop, which will take place in the dappled shade en plein air (out in nature) amidst one of Victoria's most outstanding regional civic gardens.

Originally from New Zealand and practicing across Australia, Emma Stuart now resides in Gariwerd. She has a deep sense of connection and love for Australian landscapes and has chosen to make it the central subject of her painting practice.

Emma will guide participants through creating an oil painting of an intimate scape, capturing the dappled colours of light and the tonal streaks across branches.

Stay to explore four hectares of sweeping lawns, fountains, lakes and islands with beautiful plants, decorative fences and gates, historic rotunda, sensory garden, bird enclosure, picnic/BBQ facilities and playground.

Tickets include all materials & light refreshments.
