Workshop: Actors (this workshop is for those over the age of 18 years)

Information on Workshop presenter Jenny Lovell
Jenny has been performing on stage, screen and TV for over 30 years. TV includes Prisoner, Blue Heelers, MDA and Sensing Murder. Film work includes Picnic at Hanging Rock, Gallipoli and Darkness Falls. Theatre includes Actors at Work (Bell Shakespeare), Measure for Measure for Rex Cramphorn and Adelaide Festival, Iron and Rabbit Hole (Red Stitch Theatre), Dead Tragic and The Massacre at Paris (Theatreworks), Spinning Straw, Love Is My Sin and Bully Virus (La Mama).

Jenny has been performing as an improvisor since 1987 in Sydney, Melbourne and at international festivals in Canberra, Wellington, San Francisco, Seattle, Hong Kong and Edmonton, Canada. She has been part of the development of Theatresports™ in Sydney and Melbourne performing on stage and in corporate and school performances. Jenny is a 2004 Green Room nominee for her performances in Iron (Red Stitch) and Dead Tragic (which she also produced for Impro Melbourne).

In 2002 she was an International Fellow to the Globe Theatre and has trained with international teachers: Andrew Wade, Rowena Baylos and Stewart Pearce (Voice); Keith Johnstone (improvisation); Shishir Kurup and Randy Dixon (creating performance).

As a teacher she currently works at Melbourne Polytechnic and has taught at St Martins Youth Art Centre, Monash University and in the VCA short course programme, specialising in Improvisation, Shakespeare, Text and Audition Technique. She has run workshops at international improvisation festivals in improvising in genre: Musical Theatre, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Shakespeare and Edgar Allen Poe.

For the corporate sector she runs workshops in team building, listening and communication, allowing co-workers to rediscover their inspiration and imagination in themselves and others, and building confidence in presentation through development of the passionate speaking voice.

As an independent theatre maker she has produced her own work, involving improvising in genre - In The Parlour and What The Dickens, and Better Read Than Dead – moved readings of the lesser-known plays of Shakespeare and Elizabethan playwrights.
