Join a weaving circle led by artist Jody Rallah

In this beginner-friendly session, learn about plant fibres and weaving techniques, and be guided through the process of making your own small basket. All materials provided.

This activation is presented as a part of Daniel Boyd: Rainbow Serpent (Version).


Accessibility

The gallery entrance is on the ground floor of the Judith Wright Arts Centre, on Berwick Street. There is wheelchair access and an accessible toilet with baby changing facilities also located on the ground floor, and we welcome guide and support dogs.

Guest Biography

Jody Rallah is a yuggera/yugggerabul and biri/bindal artist whose practice encompasses object making and painting, sculptural installation, soundscape, and collaborative practices. Through the art-making process, Rallah embeds narratives that echo Country, explore identity, and address the contemporary conditions that can influence our relationships with Country and each other. Rallah's solo exhibition Echoes (2021) was held at Carpark Gallery, Brisbane. Her group exhibitions include Clay (2023) at the Museum of Brisbane; Drawn by Stone (2023) at 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art of Asian Art, Sydney; and Hatched (2020) at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art. Rallah holds a Bachelor of Contemporary Australian Indigenous Art from the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University.
