Studio1’s Workshop Labs return in 2025 for the Masterclass Series!

Join these three local dance, movement and physical theatre practitioners across April for 2 hours workshops. The Masterclass Series is designed for movers and makers looking to deepen their practice, expand their knowledge and connect with local professional artists.

Workshops are priced at $25 per - or - book all 3 workshops for $60 and save $15.

Gina Tay Limpus

This workshop will investigate physical approaches to acting and performance through the Suzuki Method of Actor Training and hybrid methods.

Led by Gina Tay Limpus, this workshop will explore energy generation and transference both individually and as an ensemble. Through rigorous physical training, participants will develop a heightened awareness of their bodies in space, deepen their connection to ensemble, and refine their ability to communicate intention and presence through movement.

Blending structured form with improvisational tasks, this workshop is designed for performers interested in expanding their physical vocabulary and exploring the relationship between discipline, imagination, and collective creation.

Cecilia Martin

In this workshop, Cecilia will share her practice in moving in and out of the floor: how to ease into it, surprise it, love it and not hit it so damn hard. Inspired her recent years of study in Brussels under David Zambrano, Cecilia will guide participants through movement inspired by Zambrano's Flying Low practice, in combination with her experience in over a decade of performing acrobatic floor work. We will explore how to utilise these techniques in structured improvisation, as well as choreographic sequences and specific "moves".

Catered for both floor work aficionados and those with a basic understanding, all levels of experience will be nurtured and challenged.

This contemporary dance workshop is a chance to truly unleash your spirit and nurture your artistic soul. Immerse yourself in some vibrant fresh contemporary movement, and uncover your own unique abilities. Let this experience ignite your passion, reminding us all of the joy we find in our own practice and the endless possibilities that await when we allow ourselves to explore. Prepare to engage in a blend of technical skill training, captivating choreography, and some improvisational challenges. This workshop is an invitation to move with freedom, and to enjoy what we love doing most….. Dancing!
