Event description

WORKSHOP: Mushroom Sculpture in felt.

In this needle felting workshop, participants will sculpt a curvy toadstool

Tutor: Arzu Ünel-Cleary

Learn to create a beautiful mushroom piece to display in your home on a wooden base or several smaller ones to hang on your Christmas tree.

Working with a wire armature, we will transform humble sheep’s fleece into 3D form using the mindful practice of needle felting. We’ll explore different sculpting techniques to achieve form, connect parts and create texture. You will have a choice of different colours to work with.

Your finished piece will be mounted on a wood slice ready for you to adorn with other textiles, moss, lichen and dried seeds.

This 3-hour workshop will start at 10:00am sharp and finish at 1pm. All materials and tools will be provided. Participants will take home one larger mushroom sculpture or two/three hanging ornaments.

The cost of the workshop is $95.00 including GST. Workshop minimum age 14.
Lunch, coffee and other refreshments will be available for purchase from the Flaxton Gardens café and restaurant.

The workshop will take place in view of the public as part of the many activities associated with Sculpture on the Edge 2023.

Workshop ticket includes entry to the competition exhibition.
