Cost: $375 per person, limited to 10 places

Skill Level: Suitable for beginners to intermediate

About the workshop: Have you ever wanted to try the pottery wheel? This three-week course will introduce you to the core techniques of wheel throwing. With the aid of a highly experienced maker and tutor, you will learn how to prepare clay including hand wedging, centre clay on the pottery wheel, pull up walls to make a cylindrical form, and shape the form into a cup or a bowl using hands and shaping tools. You will learn how to trim a foot into the forms you have created, and to finish the pieces, you will learn some decorating and glazing techniques.

About the facilitator: 

Wendy Hatfield-Witt has been a practicing artist and teacher for over 30 years, working with both functional and sculptural ceramics. Holding a Bachelor of Ceramics (Honours) Wendy’s primary focus is to create works that are aesthetically pleasing and utilitarian – believing that one can never have to many pots in the kitchen! Throughout her career Wendy has taught wheel throwing, hand building, decorative techniques, and glaze technology to students from beginners to advanced.

Please be assured artisan has well considered COVID-safe protocols regarding our workshop programming. You will be offered socially distanced seating, access to your own PPE sanitation options at your workspace, and a large extremely well-ventilated workshop venue.

Workshop Cancellation Policy:

Please note this workshop can be cancelled by artisan due to unforeseen circumstances or if minimum numbers are not reached. In this event participants will be refunded accordingly and as soon as possible.

Participant Cancellation Policy:

Workshops have limited spaces and involve preparation by the facilitator. Bookings cancelled up to two weeks prior to the start of the workshop may be refunded, but a 20% non-refundable administration fee will be deducted. Bookings cancelled within two weeks of the workshop commencing will NOT be refunded. Refunds to be processed by attendee through HUMANITIX.

Workshop Transfer Policy:

You may transfer your booking into an alternative workshop up to two weeks prior to the start of the workshop. Any difference in cost will be charged accordingly. Please endeavour to complete any transfers at least two weeks prior to the workshop. You are also welcome to transfer your booking to another person prior to the workshop commencing. Please confirm this arrangement in writing to workshop@artisan.org.au.
