Workshop | A STORY TO BE WORN | Mariana Del Castillo
Event description
In this series of three workshops, join artist Mariana del Castillo in creating bespoke wearable art. There is an intimacy conveyed with each piece of jewellery we choose to wear, however there can be multiple meanings beyond aesthetics. Participants will explore a variety of materials creating delicate and detailed constructions. These tactile creations use personal metaphors to tell stories and allude to the passage of time.
SESSION 1 - PAPER WORN
Participants will explore a variety of heavy weight papers, paper beads, metal attachments, drafting film, repurposed text, sumi and indigo ink.
SESSION 2 - LEATHER WORN
Participants will explore a variety of cobbler remnants, stitches, vintage leather, tin and eye glass lenses.
SESSION 3 - ECO WORN
Participants will explore a variety of threads, stencilling, stitches, natural materials and hand dyed eco fabrics created by the artist for the workshop.
