WORKSHOP | Kinetic Rings | 2 week Jewellery Course with Renata Fojtikova

Time: 10:00am – 1:00pm
Duration: 3 hours per workshop (6 hours total)
Where: artisan's workshop location South Brisbane, 170 Melbourne Street, South Brisbane, Queensland 4101
Cost: $250 for two weeks
About the workshop:
Learn to create kinetic jewellery!
Find your inner jeweller and create your very own textured silver spinner ring. You will be guided by your highly experienced silversmithing tutor to explore concepts while learning new skills and ideas central to kinetic components. During the process you will learn core silversmithing techniques, including the use of jewellery making tools such as a saw frame and blow torch. So come and try your hand at the tactile art of making silver rings as well as connecting with kindred creative spirits!
Week 1
-Introduction to tools and fire
-Introduction to ring sizes and shapes
-Create a copper and silver plate ring band
-Learn about kinetic components
-And of course, Health and Safety induction!
Week 2
-Introduction to texturing metals
-Introduction to basic forming, using a doming block and punches
-Create a silver wire band
-Finishing touches for your beautiful rings!

- Sketch book/note pad, ruler

About Renata Fojtikova:
Renata is a multi-award-winning silversmith with over 10 years’ experience. Since graduating from the Queensland College of Art with a Masters in Visual Arts, Renata has taught at professional institutions, such as TAFE, Brisbane Institute of Art and Flying Arts Alliance Inc. Renata’s vision for her ‘bespoke skills’ is that learning should be accessible to everyone; her workshops cover all skill levels.

Skill Level: This workshop is suitable for beginners through to advanced practitioners
COVID-Safe Policy:
Please be assured artisan has well considered COVID-safe protocols regarding our workshop programming. You will be offered socially distanced seating, access to your own PPE sanitation options at your workspace, and a large extremely well-ventilated workshop venue.
Workshop Cancellation Policy:
Please note this workshop can be cancelled by artisan due to unforeseen circumstances or if minimum numbers are not reached. In this event participants will be refunded accordingly and as soon as possible.
Participant Cancellation Policy:
Workshops have limited spaces and involve preparation by the facilitator. Bookings cancelled up to one week prior to the start of the workshop may be refunded, but a 20% non-refundable administration fee will be deducted. Bookings cancelled within a week of the workshop commencing will NOT be refunded. Refunds to be processed by the attendee through Humanitix.
Workshop Transfer Policy:
You may transfer your booking into an alternative workshop up to one week prior to the start of the workshop. Any difference in cost will be charged accordingly. Please endeavour to complete any transfers at least one week prior to the workshop.
You are also welcome to transfer your booking to another person prior to the workshop commencing. Please confirm this arrangement in writing to programs@artisan.org.au.
