About the workshop:

In this workshop master jeweller Vivien Bedwell will teach you her technique of using jump-ring loops to form a chain style bracelet. Jump-rings and loops can help form an endless number of objects and also allows for movement of the body when worn.

Participants will learn:

  • how to make bracelet links with jump-rings (round, oval and twist) - winding the wire, sawing then solder
  • solder the links together to form a bracelet that allows for movement
  • make a clasp
  • if there’s time, make a charm for the bracelet – stamp disc provided and solder onto bracelet
  • Tumble the bracelet to polish

About Vivien Bedwell:

Vivien is a sessional lecturer in Jewellery and Small Objects at Queensland College of Art, Griffith University and her studio practice is based on the Gold Coast where she makes production and exhibition work.

As a jewellery artist she investigate alternative ways the body creates connection to wearable objects. Her work is informed by body movement, sensory exploration, spatial awareness and traditions.

The variety of metals she works with are gold, sterling silver, copper, brass, aluminium and incorporate soft materials such as thread and paper. She also enjoys working with natural stones and settings. Vivien has an open minded approach, combining techniques and materials especially the experimentation process.

Workshop Cancellation Policy:

Please note this workshop can be cancelled by artisan due to unforeseen circumstances or if minimum numbers are not reached. In this event participants will be refunded accordingly and as soon as possible.

Participant Cancellation Policy:

Workshops have limited spaces and involve preparation by the facilitator. Bookings cancelled up to one week prior to the start of the workshop may be refunded, but a 20% non-refundable administration fee will be deducted. Bookings cancelled within a week of the workshop commencing will NOT be refunded. Refunds are to be processed by the attendee through Humanitix booking. 

Workshop Transfer Policy:

You may transfer your booking into an alternative workshop up to one week prior to the start of the workshop. Any difference in cost will be charged accordingly. Please endeavour to complete any transfers at least one week prior to the workshop.

You are also welcome to transfer your booking to another person prior to the workshop commencing. Please confirm this arrangement in writing to workshop@artisan.org.au.
