About the workshop:

In our Stamp Carving for Fabric Design workshop, participants will carve stamps from their own designs and learn how to print on paper and fabrics.

Expertly guided by Japanese visual artist and master printmaker Kay Watanabe. You will be guided through designing and carving rubber to create your handmade print medium, as well as printing using ink and stamp pads. Participants will take home hand printed artworks on paper, fabrics and on a tote bag!

Perfect for those wanting to learn relief print techniques and those wanting to learn how to create fabric designs without expensive printing equipment. No previous experience in printmaking is required. This workshop is for adults.

Kay Watanabe's artworks are about interconnectedness between humans and nature. She exhibits in Australia and Japan, and internationally.

  • Clothes that can get dirty, or an apron

About the facilitator:

Kay Watanabe is a Brisbane-based Japanese visual artist with her main medium being printmaking. She also draws, paints and creates sculptures. Her works are about the interconnectedness between humans and nature. As well as exhibiting her fine art works in Australia and internationally, Kay also works in the field of surface design, using her printmaking skills.

Please be assured artisan has well considered COVID-safe protocols regarding our workshop programming. You will be offered socially distanced seating, access to your own PPE sanitation options at your workspace, and a large extremely well-ventilated workshop venue.

Workshop Cancellation Policy:

Please note this workshop can be cancelled by artisan due to unforeseen circumstances or if minimum numbers are not reached. In this event participants will be refunded accordingly and as soon as possible.

Participant Cancellation Policy:

Workshops have limited spaces and involve preparation by the facilitator. Bookings cancelled up to one week prior to the start of the workshop may be refunded, but a 20% non-refundable administration fee will be deducted. Bookings cancelled within a week of the workshop commencing will NOT be refunded. Cancellations to be processed by the attendee through Humanitix. 

Workshop Transfer Policy:

You may transfer your booking into an alternative workshop up to one week prior to the start of the workshop. Any difference in cost will be charged accordingly. Please endeavor to complete any transfers at least one week prior to the workshop.

You are also welcome to transfer your booking to another person prior to the workshop commencing. Please confirm this arrangement in writing to workshop@artisan.org.au.
