Event description

Are you ready to explore the intersection of art, technology, and craft?

This 2 part workshop series introduces participants to the basics of combining hand weaving and simple embedded technology. This multi-disciplinary adventure will empower participants to create quick-fire experimental artworks that blend traditional techniques with easy-to-use electronics. Integrate tech such as LEDs and shape-memory alloy and watch your creations come to life as they respond to stimuli. This workshop offers an experience that bridges the gap between traditional craft and modern technology.

Be part of a transformative workshop that merges art, technology, and self-expression.

This is a masterclass workshop for beyond-basics or intermediate-level loom weavers (experience in double weave an advantage) who are artists, craftspeople, technologists, and creators. Participants will need their own 4 shaft (or more) loom, pre-threaded for the class, along with general weaving equipment and a variety of threads. All electronic and special materials will be supplied.

This workshop will be held over two sessions.

Session 1 - Saturday 18 October

Session 2 - Saturday 25 October
