Workshop Series: Very Professional Artists
Event description
WORKSHOP SERIES: VERY PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS
A new series of free and low-cost workshops for emerging creatives in Western Sydney
Are you a young artist ready to take your work to the next level?
Outloud’s Very Professional Artist series is here to help you build your practice like the career it’s meant to be.
Curated by our Youth Advisory Group and led by industry professionals, this series brings you hands-on workshops across multiple art forms designed to give you real-world skills and connect you with a helpful network of artists, mentors, and collaborators.
Whether you're writing songs, printing t-shirts, making plays and paintings, and figuring out how to go from ‘hobby’ to ‘career’, these workshops are made for you.
Plus, we’ll feed you!
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
- Thinking about your practice as a business
- Writing a compelling artist bio and artist statement
- Building your portfolio and marketing tools
- Tax for artists (how to not be afraid of tax)
- Wellbeing and sustaining a creative life (busting imposter syndrome, avoiding burnout)
- How to talk to people about your work and do that ‘elevator pitch’ (without cringing!)
Wrap it all up with an Industry Networking Night, where you’ll introduce yourself and your work to potential collaborators and companies.
