Cost: $100 per person, limited to 10

Skill Level: Beginner to intermediate

About the workshop:

Use hand stitching to mend, enhance and upcycle clothes  The process of stitching by hand enables us to relax, feel resourceful and become more self-reliant by regenerating our agency in the wardrobe. Investing energy and creativity into dull, dormant or abandoned garments can transform them into treasured pieces that are authentically our own.

In this workshop you will make a needle roll, learn the process of mending using hand-stitching and experience the simple joy of stitching in circles to renovate clothes.  This workshop is suitable for beginners wanting to learn to mend and experienced sewists interested in gaining new upcycling projects.

As part of this session, participants will be provided with materials to stitch a small needle roll to store the needle and thread they will receive and a copy of The Process of Mending booklet. Participants should bring along a garment that needs rejuvenation. If you already have hand-sewing equipment (including scissors), please bring that along too. Upcycling options will be discussed and participants can take action within the timeframe available.

Included in workshop ticket:

  • New skills and upcycling inspiration!
  • Embroidery needle and thread
  • Your own hand-stitched creation
