"This is me": A postcard or zine for my storyteller; by Postcards from the Sky

This workshop, conducted by artist Clare Martin and writer Jen Webb, works from the theme of 'What I want you to know about me'; participants choose images/text that illustrate this, and create a postcard or zine 'addressed' to the future, and the 'someone' who might want to tell your story.

For this workshop, participants will make:

• a postcard addressed to someone you imagine might be telling your story one day, perhaps a child or grandchild; and/or

• the pages of a handmade zine to create a small hand-held chapbook on the same theme or a related theme of the participant's choosing.

Participants will be provided with an easy-to-follow diagram of how to fold a sheet of A4 paper into a chapbook and given guided instructions on how to make one.

We will provide blank pages, blank printed postcards, instructions on how to make a zine, 'brain starters' like examples of poetry, postcards or zines, found text and magazines.

Postcards from the Sky is a dynamic collective of creatives whose living studio activities incorporate art+text creative collaborations between visual artists and poets based in the ACT, the Capital Region and further afield. Formed in 2017, the group has participated in creative art/text/music practice with a variety of other artists, and in a range of venues, including art+text exhibitions at Belco Arts Centre, and Zines and Postcards workshops in innovative, varied and stimulating environments at places marking traditional Ngunnawal Songlines, and at Guerrilla Studios in Binalong NSW, and public events including Cobargo and the National Folk Festivals 2024 and 2025.
