    Event description

The skin is the carrier of our memory. In this workshop, participants can be part in the making of the jewel by choosing a part of their skin to be moulded.

Since 2017, contemporary jewellery artist PÿR has offered the opportunity to participate in the creation of a piece to bequeath to a stranger. This collection explores the idea of the contribution of others in the constitution of the self, while questioning the idea of the self-made man. What is the role of the other in the formation of our identity? Is it through others that we find ourselves?

During events (vernissage, studio open house, creators' markets...), PÿR invites willing audience members to take an imprint of a part of their skin (which they will have chosen to represent them) using a silicone paste. In these silicone molds, she directly pours molten tin to mount the prints in pins. All the jewellery-making is done live, in front of the participants and passers-by. The people who have participated in the impression-taking will randomly pick another brooch, and leave with a piece of skin of a stranger: a small piece of them that they have bequeathed, in the form of a brooch, to proudly display on themselves.

Involving the visitor, the curious, and the public in the making of the jewel is a way to install another relationship with the object: to go beyond being a simple spectator so that the body is engaged in a process of creation.

Please note, this workshop is free but limited to only 6 participants.
