Event description

World AIDS Day is on 1 December each year - and we will be on the streets of Bendigo for the WAD Street Appeal on Friday November 29. Joining us will be our special #glambassador for 2024, Polly Filla.

It is an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling experience to be out on the street with ribbons and a collection bucket engaging with the public about World Aids Day. The appeal raises valuable funds for the THH David Williams Fund, supporting people living with HIV.

Sign up now to volunteer or come along to show your support and wear a red ribbon.

The David Williams Fund (DWF) was established in 1986 to provide emergency financial assistance to people living with HIV (PLHIV) who are experiencing financial hardship. The fund relies upon donations.
Services include:
Financial counselling
Food vouchers
Study assist
One-to-one financial literacy
Emergency financial assistance
Advice and referral to No interest loans (NILS) providers

Poverty affects a substantial number of PLHIV, and demand for assistance regularly outstrips the funding available. Each year, the DWF distributes over $100,000 to PLHIV in Victoria. The fund is totally reliant upon donations as well as various community fundraisers such as World AIDS Day.
