About the Bradley Sisters

Joan and Eileen Bradley were the pioneers of assisted bush regeneration, a core practice of bushland management today. The Bradleys grew up in Neutral Bay and went to Wenona school, opposite North Sydney Council chambers. They developed their method of assisted bush regeneration in Ashton Park Mosman, where they later retired and now part of Sydney Harbour National Park.

The Bradley sisters played a key role in protecting this area from unnecessary development during the 1960s and 70’s, a period of awakening environmental consciousness. Their legacy lives on today in the form of the Bushcare movement and community advocacy for the protection of urban bushland.
