    Event description

World Music Café celebrates its 2024 season finale with a wonderful show featuring Tchenga creole folk from Reunion Island and the Latin music of Luz Del Bosque, plus special ‘Day of the Dead’ party guests, Muchos Mariachi, at the Mt Lawley Bowling Club Function Room on Friday 15 November 2024.

Tchenga play creole folk from the Indian Ocean region, particularly the islands such as Mauritius, Réunion and Seychelles. The culture blends various ethnic, linguistic, and cultural influences, including African, French, Indian and Asian. Expect a bit of sega, seggae, maloya, Afro-pop, and island folk with an exciting Tchega twist!

Luz Del Bosque will take you on a journey through the Americas with a unique blend of world music. With a love for South American songs and Spanish guitar, Amity Culver sings in many languages Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Yawanawa, Quechua, plus Hebrew, Nahuatl and Hunikuin accompanied by guitarist Karl Hiller weaving a magical sonic tapestry.

“It been a good year for World Music Café with many quality sold-out shows and we thank all our patrons, partners, musicians, and crew, for their amazing contributions,” said World Music Café facilitator, Jon Cope.

“Our World Music Café events showcase the diversity of contemporary Australian culture and we encourage you to book early for our end of season celebration,” he said.

Venezuelan caterer, Tamara Rodriguez, and her team are preparing a special Latin menu to celebrate the ‘Day of the Dead’ and the finale of the 2024 World Music Cafe season with party guests, Muchos Mariachi, Perth’s favourite mariachi band, to raise your spirits!

World Music Café is a social enterprise created in 2019 that provides economic and social integration for the crew members of new migrant and refugee backgrounds. Described as ‘An Oasis of Integration in Our Country’ by the UWA Centre for Social Impact, World Music Café was a ‘Social Entrepreneur of the Year’ finalist in the Australian 2022 Third Sector Awards.

Given most shows sell out, patrons are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment. Group Table booking discounts are available. Book via Humanitix
