World Order After Iran

The war in Iran, launched by the US and Israel in late February, has had major repercussions on world order. In Iran and its immediate region, the war has killed and displaced tens of thousands of people, inflicting severe damage on both lives and livelihoods. Across Asia, economies, alliances and infrastructures have been destabilised by the weaponisation of key maritime chokepoints. The war has also created deep rifts between elites and publics in several countries, threatening to intensify regional turbulence. For scholars, students and practitioners of international relations, the war has prompted major debates around law, governance, technology and diplomacy. All in all, the war in Iran has added to the sense that the world order we live in, already precariously stitched together, is coming apart at its seams.

This one-day conference will explore the impact of the Iranian war on world order, examining its impact on Australian, regional and global politics. Speakers include ANU experts, academics from around Australia and practitioners.  

The event is free, with catering provided. Registration is essential for this in-person only event.
