Event description
World Refugee Day Fair: Showcasing the skills and contributions of refugees in Australia
Celebrate World Refugee Day with a showcase of the rich skills and contributions of refugees! Join us on the front lawns of Parliament House to raise awareness about the systemic barriers that hold back many skilled refugees from achieving their full career potential in Australia.
Hosted by Settlement Services International (SSI), the Fair will feature stalls from a range of refugee-led businesses and organisations, refugee service providers, and employers who have enriched their workforces with skilled refugees.
Come for an immersive experience where you can visit stalls, buy lunch, listen to music, and enjoy a great line up of speakers.
Key note speakers include:
- Hon Andrew Giles MP, Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs
- Violet Roumeliotis AM, CEO of SSI
- Najeeba Wazefadost, Founder and Executive Director of the Asia Pacific Network of Refugees
- And more!
The Fair event will culminate in a press conference to launch a signature report, ‘Billion Dollar Benefit: A roadmap for unleashing the economic potential of refugees and migrants’, based on the top-five solutions to implement by 2025 to break down employment barriers.
Our shared aspiration is for all refugees to reach their full potential in Australia, in every area of life. Our vision is for refugees to be given a fair go to use their professional skills, experience and qualifications to build lives and livelihoods in Australia that are productive and fulfilling. If you agree, come join us to celebrate and advocate!
