WOT x CAS x AIR: RETURN WORKSHOP 2
Event description
RETURN is a workshop series that brings artists, with ties to the south east, back to their local roots, sharing skills in different art-forms, including poetry, performance and emerging technologies at our residency spaces in Dandenong and Casey.Â
This first series features artists Thabani Tshuma, JAG and Mohamed Chamas.Â
Next up is RETURN with Jag, Saturday October 26th.Â
Jag is a raw, genre-bending musician from Melbourne. Incorporating elements of non-naturalistic theatre and poetry, she engages with audiences in a fearless and eager manner. The Artist In Question, her current outsider-soul project, is influenced by the oddities of Frank Zappa, Solange, and Arthur Brown. Using the piano, her voice and her alter-ego SSFN37<3 (Soul Sister 37), she revolutionises the standards of musical value to radicalise and defy society’s understanding of tradition. With an upcoming album featuring a 10-piece band due for release in 2025, Jag is yet again proving that she is an artist to look out for!
WOT kinda workshop?
SSFN37<3 - also known as Soul Sister #37 - is the alter ego of genre-bending artist Jag. Wearing a mask covered in stars, colours and her name written all over, SSFN37<3 whimsically sings and recites poems to celebrate life's trials in a ridiculous manner that one can't help but laugh at.
This character allows Jag to be free and fanatic within her artistic practice without the pressure of being perfect.
As such, this workshop titled Vast Masks invites audiences to join in on the fun and create their own mask! Whether it's decorated in different colours, shapes, texts and/or stickers, everyone will have the opportunity to enjoy a lovely afternoon of arts and crafts in a safe and welcoming environment.
12 — 3 pm at Connection Arts Space (Dandenong)
Includes lunch! Tix are free but bookings are essential.
