Would You Spot the Scam?

Scam Prevention 101 – Protect Your Business, Identity, Family & Friends

Presented by Rod Plaut

Think you’d know a scam if you saw one? Think again.

Scammers are becoming more convincing. Emails look genuine, fake invoices can appear almost identical to the real thing, caller ID can be manipulated and criminals are increasingly targeting your personal information and identity, not just your money.

Join Rod Plaut for an engaging, practical and interactive session that will put your scam-spotting skills to the test.

Could you spot the warning signs?

Is that email genuine – or phishing?
Can you recognise a fake email address or suspicious link?
What should you do if a supplier suddenly changes their bank details?
Can you trust the number showing on your phone?
How much personal information are you giving away online?
Are your passwords and verification codes really secure?
What can criminals do with stolen personal details or credentials?
Why can paying through your phone wallet offer additional security protections?

You’ll also learn simple ways to reduce your vulnerability to identity theft, protect your passwords and personal credentials, and recognise when someone is trying to make you act before you think.

REAL OR SCAM?

Throughout the session, Rod will show you examples and ask you to make the call.

Would you click?
Would you respond?
Would you pay?
Would you share the information?

You may be surprised by what catches you out.

Remember:

STOP. CHECK. VERIFY.

Before you click, pay, transfer money or share personal information, stop and independently check who you are really dealing with.

One good security habit could prevent a very expensive mistake.

Come along, test yourself and learn practical ways to protect your business, identity, family and friends.
