WRAP: Make a Gratitude Gift
Description
Slow down and reconnect with the natural world in this mindful, hands-on Christmas workshop with artist Yoko Onishi. Discover the beauty and value of everyday natural treasures, and explore how a little creativity can transform them into something special to give or keep.
Drawing on Japanese wrapping and craft traditions, you’ll learn simple techniques to wrap and decorate natural materials such as stones, leaves and seed pods using twine, cord and colourful stitching.
Take time to reflect on the person you’re creating for and the meaning behind your gift. You’ll leave with a beautifully wrapped, one-of-a-kind creation to give or keep, along with new techniques, creative ideas and a sense of gratitude for what nature provides.
Materials and supplies provided: Natural twine, cord, embroidery thread, needles and scissors, plus a selection of natural materials such as stones, leaves, pine cones, twigs and seed pods. We may also gather suitable materials from the EcoMatters grounds.
What to bring/wear: Practical clothes.
You're welcome to bring your own materials to create with - ideally something from nature, (garden, beach, bush, park).
Thanks to support from Creative Communities Scheme.
