Sharing stories of your every day life enriches and strengthens connections in the community, in your family, in your life, and builds your sense of belonging and worthiness in the world.

A life storybook can provide a memoir to share with your love ones and to keep as a memory of special life events. You can use it to help remember moments about growing up, your family, your school days, the places you have lived and other things about yourself.

Come along over 4 Saturdays to create your story in beautiful Aldinga Beach with Annette Rohde from Fresh Ginger Creative, you'll be guided on planning and creating the content for a life storybook (eg: your own story or a family member), creating your front cover and making your life story book.

In this workshop you will:

Immerse yourself in some specially designed activities to get your creative juices flowing
Explore the life story thread that you want to focus on
Create the title of your story
Consider different types of images and create the cover image for your story using lino cutting or dry point etching.
Design the format and structural elements of your story
Start writing first rough outline of your story.
Learn how to make handbound books using Japanese stab binding technique using simple and complex binding patterns.
Be provided the opportunity to make your books using other binding techniques.

Where: This event will be held in beautiful Aldinga Beach at the Curiosity Cafe, home of Fresh Ginger Creative, situated between the scrub and the beach. This event is part of an ongoing series of creative workshops.

Dates: 4 Friday afternoons 4 to 25 June 2021

Time: 2.00pm to 5.30pm - including afternoon tea and refreshments.

Cost: $260 +booking fee

All materials will be supplied but feel free to bring any paper, ideas, images or materials that you would like to include in your life storybook.

Annette is involved in running creative and business planning workshops and community arts projects focussed towards making an impact on community health and wellbeing through sharing stories.

Annette has a Bachelor of Communications and a Masters in Visual Art & Design along with certificates in Mental Health First Aid, Understanding Dementia and Preventing Dementia.

Annette is a lover of art, animals and all things that work towards a kinder and more sustainable planet.
