Description

A workshop for adult writers in a beautiful park setting.

Part of the Write on Site pop-up series from Write Pittsburgh.

About the workshop:

Join Schereéya for a spring morning writing revelation in our first Write on Site workshop of the year. With a focus on mindfulness and contemplation as a journaling practice, this session is good for anyone who is trying to carve out a bit of time to reset. Especially good for people who want to get into (or get back into) the habit of building a writing practice. Journaling as mindfulness can be beneficial for relieving stress, making hard decisions, or even uncovering the solution to plot holes or character problems in your work in progress. Feel free to bring snacks, water, and comfy shoes.

Note on logistics:
  • This workshop will take place outdoors and will include some walking on the trails in Frick Park. Participants with mobility-specific disabilities are encouraged to contact info@writepittsburgh.com ahead of time so that we can adapt our plans to the needs of our writers.
  • In the case of light rain, we will still be venturing out, so bring an umbrella or rain jacket if the weather looks drippy.
  • In the case of thunderstorms or more severe weather, the workshop will be rescheduled and tickets will be refunded.

About your facilitator:

Schereéya is a multi-disciplinary artist, advocate, and fulltime fae (with a day job in business development). Currently based in Pittsburgh, Schereeya’s practice focuses on freedom: Freedom of play, of joy, of magic and whimsy, of the ability to know oneself. “The act of Knowing myself helps me liberate myself from others’ expectations. Knowing is an ongoing process, and it takes practice and exploration. That’s what my work is- the practice of self-exploration.”

Community agreement:

By registering and attending, you acknowledge that Write Pittsburgh provides an intentional writing community space. Anyone who uses hate speech, engages in disruptive behavior, or practices other behaviors determined to be antithetical to Write Pittsburgh's mission of amplifying voices, empowering writers, and building a strong writing community will be asked to leave the event immediately, without discussion and without refund.
