Writing Creative Non-Fiction with Martine Kropkowski

Price $120 – $179 AUD Book your place

Event description

Do you have an experience or body of research that you’d like to craft into a work of creative non-fiction?

In this workshop, we discuss the fundamentals of creative non-fiction (CNF). What is CNF? How does it work? What’s the best way to get started?

Whether you’re writing a personal essay, memoir, biography, writing about the environment, embarking on a work of long-form journalism, or playing with something more experimental, this introductory workshop will help you explore the basics of CNF and get you started on your project.

By the end of this workshop you should have an understanding of why you’ve chosen CNF to explore your idea and how you can structure and voice that idea in an original work of CNF.

Learning outcomes

As part of this workshop, you will:

  • Learn what CNF is and consider why writers choose to express an event, experience or research through this form.
  • Explore the different types of CNF by considering and discussing examples.
  • Understand how narrative devices function in CNF.
  • Build a collection of exercises and prompts to inspire and strengthen your writing process, including guidance on how to create structure and voice in your CNF.
  • Meet and mix with other writers working in your chosen form.
