Writing Craft Essentials Workshop
Event description
Join women’s fiction author, writing podcaster and experienced teacher Pamela Cook, and award-winning romance author, lawyer and academic Penelope Janu, to learn about the essentials of fiction writing. Pamela and Penelope are both experienced multi-published authors with so much to share about the writing life and plenty of tips to make your fiction shine.
In a combination of information sharing and writing exercises this 90-minute workshop will cover:
• Where to find inspiration for your stories
• Developing your cast of characters
• Writing process: plotting vs writing organically (also known as pantsing or ‘flying by the seat of your pants’)
• Capturing your story in a single sentence (and why you should!)
• Making time for your writing and working towards publication
You’ll leave the workshop with a clear idea of what’s needed to get your story started, how you can massage it into shape, and a whole lot of writing tips to inspire you, help you get words on the page, and work out ‘what comes next’.
